The third piece, which is new and I worked on very hard, comes from Wagner’s opera Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. (Only until minute 5 in the video) It is the young singer apprentice David’s first aria. In this piece he explains how difficult it is to become a Master singer. One must know all the rules and regulations to singing properly, which are MANY. Each regulation has a certain name and must be sung very precisely.
I think I sing this piece well, but it is none the less difficult. I have been told that since I look very young and have blond hair and blue eyes (and most likely will until I am 80) that I look EXACTLY how a David is supposed to look, and that my voice fits the role.
